Columbia County Board of Education Approves Lowest Millage Rate in 35 Years

In alignment with Georgia state law, the Columbia County Board of Education approved an estimated rollback millage rate of 16.234 mills during its regular session meeting held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. This decision marks the fifth consecutive year the Board has reduced the millage rate, bringing it to its lowest level in 35 years.

Registration is now open for students, new and existing, for the 2025-2026 school year. All students are required to complete the annual online registration before the first day of school on Monday, August 4, 2025.

School Climate and Financial Efficiency Star Ratings

Both the School Climate Star Rating and the Financial Efficiency Star Ratings were recently released by the Georgia Department of Education and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. All schools in the Columbia County School District earned a four or five star School Climate Rating, and the district’s Financial Efficiency Star Rating was 4.5 out of 5 stars for the 2023-2024 school year.
