The groups were comprised of students currently enrolled in a second-year healthcare pathway. They were given the opportunity to meet with practicing professionals from over 25 healthcare businesses and organizations about careers like respiratory therapy, dentistry/dental hygiene, emergency medical tech, pharmacy/pharmacy tech, medical illustration, occupational therapy, nursing, physician and social work, and more. Students also learned about salaries and educational requirements, and explored their own interests in these potential career fields.
Representatives from Augusta University and Augusta Technical College will be onsite to share admissions information.
This learning opportunity is possible in partnership with the Columbia County School District, Georgia Statewide AHEC and Georgia Higher Education Healthcare Initiative, and provides another opportunity to prepare students for a career after high school.
