CCSD Fine Arts

Fine Arts are alive and growing in Columbia County!
In the Columbia County School District, the fine arts programs help students explore their interest and talents while developing these skills throughout their educational journey to prepare them for success in college and the workforce.  Programs offered reflect three main Fine Arts guided by the Georgia Department of Education: Music, Visual Arts, and Theater.  Each discipline has its own techniques, strategies, experiences, and opportunities that invites students to grow in confidence and appreciation.  The CCSD strives to provide programs that will encourage students to become a life long learner and patron of their chosen artform.

“The arts enhance the process of learning. The systems they nourish, which include our integrated sensory, attentional, cognitive, and motor capacities, are, in fact, the driving forces behind all other learning” (Jensen, 2001).

After twenty years in the elementary music classroom, Mrs. Danielle Starcher is honored to serve as the Fine Arts Specialist for the Columbia County School District. She graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. Danielle earned her Masters degree in Creative Arts and Learning from Lesley University and completed her specialist degree in Teaching and Learning as well as completing the requirements for reading and gifted endorsement at Augusta State University. Danielle was honored and flattered to be named Columbia County Teacher of the Year for the 2007-2008 school year.
